Operating a motor vehicle without a current/valid Texas inspection sticker (where required) is generally:
- A Class B misdemeanor
- A Class C misdemeanor under Tex. Transp. Code §548 (state inspection); note: passenger vehicles in Texas no longer require safety inspection (eff. Jan 1, 2025) — but emissions inspection and commercial inspection still apply in covered counties Correct
- A felony
- No offense
Why: Effective January 1, 2025, Texas eliminated annual safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles. Emissions inspections (in 17 covered counties) and commercial vehicle inspections remain. Non-compliance is generally a Class C misdemeanor.
